Would you rather be added to the looong list of celebrities just for fame or would you rather be someone who makes a positive impact on others and the world? Most of us glorify fame and have this majestic image of it, but popularity isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. At some point in life, we aspire to be a superstar, I’ll speak from experience. I idolized Michael Jordan & Kobe Bryant I wanted to play like them, my baby brother wanted to be like Macgyver a crafty agent on TV devoted to righting the wrongs of the world, and the majority of the women in the world today idolize Cardi b, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj and Kim Kardashian. Individuals we watched on tv day and night, obsess over and idolize. As we become older, we realize how dysfunctional celebrity and Hollywood life can be at times. Just look at the celebrity divorce and suicide rates. The Hollywood divorce rate between 1994 and 2006 was 75.5%. 50% percent of stars who Married between 2000 and 2010 split by 2014 and over 26 celebrities took their own lives last year alone. Very seldom do we find individuals that handle their rise to stardom pretty well.

So, why is making an impact more fulfilling than striving to be famous? Well, before we answer this question let’s define what the word impact means.

To Impact is to have a substantial effect on someone or something, to leave a lasting impression. Impact derives from the Latin word Impactus, meaning to push into.

Contact between two masses must happen to make a true impact. When this impact occurs, both parties are affected. As opposed to being famous, which is only one-sided and there is no profound impact involved. It’s simply someone being well known for their talents. The individual has a spotlight for some time, but it doesn't last too long, because time is fame's greatest enemy. Unless you maintain relevant to the public’s eye through different platforms, you’ll be forgotten in no time. Would you rather be added to the looong list of celebrities for fame or would you rather be someone who makes a positive impact on others and the world? I choose to make an impact on lives every singled. We all have a choice but here are three ways a person can make an impact:

1. Doing Nothing: Andy Hunt Said, ”Only dead fish go with the flow.” The Majority of society take the non-challenging road because most choose comfort over growth. This route of course doesn’t require much effort. They pretty much just accept what they're given, and do the bare minimum. It's a proven fact that we only get present to our greatness when we step outside of our comfort zone. So, If you choose to do nothing, you won't be able to produce extraordinary results in your life and the world. Making no choice is still making a choice.

2. Negative Impact: Have you ever been around someone who drained your mental energy? They put people down, or gossip behind the backs of others. We all from one time or another have come in contact with a ”Negative Nancy.” These individuals choose to only focus on the Negatives in life. What we focus on expands so the more they focus on the negative, the more negatives they will get. These people also have an impact in the world. They're the ones who become an obstacle for the Dreamers and Doers. They may even be the reason someone decides to stop dreaming their dream long ago and settle for what's ordinary.

3. Positive Impact: The most empowering out of the three is a positive impact. Think about all of the people in world history that had a positive, profound impact on humanity. We still remember and honor them. To name a few Jesus, Martin Luther King, Gandhi, Mother Teresa and Nelson Mandela the list goes on. There's no doubt that these people were here on earth because their impacts are still visible. We can all of agree that none of these people wanted to be Famous, most if not all of them wanted to change the world for the better or aspired to see their ideas come to life. You can't make a difference by staying in your comfort zone. For some, it might be sharing your story with someone else that served as an inspiration to that individual or sharing some encouraging words. You can even impact someone positively by taking the time to share your smile or something you struggled with and overcame. You can also make an impact on someone by showing kindness and compassion.

When we make a difference in someone's life, Our names will be in their story forever. I choose to make a positive impact on the people around me and my environment. I always ask myself do I affect my environment or does my environment affect me?

The purpose of this writing is not to tell you what to do with your life. It's your life that's for you to decide. The goal of this writing is to layout all the different types of impacts one can have in the world and give you the reader the opportunity to make the decision when it comes to what kind of influence you want to have on others. I encourage you to take the time to look and discover for yourself.
